What “Transfer in” means
Transferring a domain into NextShopper moves an existing registration from another registrar to this account. You unlock the name at the current registrar, obtain the Auth / EPP code, start Transfer in on NextShopper, and pay the transfer year at checkout. The gaining side bills the transfer; the losing registrar releases the name after approval windows defined by the TLD.
This guide covers preparation, the portal transfer form, and how to confirm success.
Who this guide is for
- Domains currently at another registrar
- Customers consolidating names into one NextShopper account
- Anyone who already has the auth code and an unlocked domain
Before you start
At the current registrar:
- Disable WHOIS privacy temporarily if it blocks transfer emails (TLD-dependent).
- Unlock the domain (clear transfer lock / EPP lock).
- Confirm the domain is older than any 60-day lock from a recent register or prior transfer.
- Request the auth / EPP code and copy it carefully.
- Ensure the registrant email can receive approval messages.
At NextShopper:
- Confirm we sell that TLD (unknown TLDs show an error on the form).
- Be ready to pay the transfer invoice.
Step-by-step: start Transfer in
- Open Transfer in from the portal Store area (title: Transfer a domain in), or use the inbound transfer page linked from help/store navigation.
- Read the lead: unlock at the current registrar, then add with the auth code; checkout bills the transfer year.
- Enter Domain (FQDN) and Auth / EPP code.
- Select Add transfer to cart.
- Open Cart → Continue to checkout → pay.
If you see We do not sell that TLD yet., stop—transfer cannot proceed for unsupported extensions.
What happens next / how to verify success
- Watch email at both registrars for transfer approval/FOA-style messages; approve promptly.
- When complete, the domain appears under Domains.
- Set Nameservers / DNS, review Contacts, and enable EPP lock again after the transfer settles.
- Note any 60-day transfer lock message on the domain page after inbound completion.
Transfers are not instant. Allow the registry’s normal approval window.
Common problems
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Auth code rejected | Regenerate at losing registrar; avoid extra spaces |
| Domain still locked | Unlock at losing registrar; wait for status sync |
| 60-day lock | Wait until eligible; recent changes block transfers |
| Transfer stuck | Check emails for pending approval; open a ticket with timelines |
| Wrong account after transfer | Ensure you paid while signed into the intended NextShopper user |
Frequently asked questions
Does transfer extend my expiry?
Checkout bills a transfer year per TLD rules—confirm the new Expires date on the domain page after completion.
Can I keep the same nameservers?
Often yes during transfer; verify after completion and update if you want NextShopper DNS.
Should I unlock after arriving?
Keep EPP lock On for normal security; unlock only when transferring away later.
What if I change my mind mid-transfer?
Contact both registrars quickly; options depend on registry stage.
